All About C-YA
C-YA Mission Statement
C-YA is organized by and for recent Stanford undergraduate alumni. We seek to build community, share knowledge, and create opportunities for personal development through planning and promoting events that directly benefit Stanford young alumni.C-YA Background
Cardinal Young Alumni (C-YA) was founded in 1995 by a group of Bay Area alumni who wanted to reconnect with other recent Stanford graduates. They organized an email list (which served as the primary means of communication between members), planned events, and spread the word to all their friends. The list, which has grown to 1,600 subscribers, is still in use today.Membership in C-YA was, is, and always will be free. It is open to any young Stanford alumni who wish to participate.
C-YA Today
Today C-YA is structured around an email list that publicizes events organized by and/or pertaining to young alumni. Most events are planned by the Steering Committee, a volunteer group of C-YA members.Anyone is welcome to join the Steering Committee and/or organize an event. Ideas for new types of events are always welcome. Most of our recent events have fallen into the following categories:
- Social pub nights, happy hours, dining circles, tailgate parties, dancing
- Career and Networking business card exchanges, career development seminars
- Outdoors hikes, bike rides, camping
- Young Alum Survival Skills personal finance, cooking, housing
- Community Service one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities
- Knowledge Exchanges book clubs, author series, panel discussions
